Vanilla Custard Sauce

This vanilla custard sauce recipe is perfect paired with molten chocolate cake or even a brownie.
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream, half and half or milk
- 2 egg yolks
- 3 tablespoons Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- 1.
In the top of a double boiler over simmering water, heat cream until hot but not boiling.
- 2.
Beat egg yolks well in a small bowl.
- 3.
Combine a small amount of the hot cream with the egg yolks and then pour the egg mixture back into the cream.
- 4.
Stir in the sugar.
- 5.
Cook and stir custard until it is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- 6.
Chill.
